Question V Groove Pulley's LS

So I'm looking for someone that makes v groove pulley's for ls based motors. Everyone is all about the serpentine belt systems for the vehicles these days but I want the v grooves for a different look since I am putting a 6-71 on either a 5.3L or a 6.0L. With the covers Holley sells people will really scratch their heads when the see it. Don Hampton told me he can build me a blower manifold at about half the cost that BDS wants for theirs. The one thing that big 71 series blowers do is build lots of torque which is perfect for a heavy truck.

Re: V Groove Pulley's LS

You think the 6-71 would out perform something like the whipple 4L? I mean I know volume is volume, but I'd think with the improved blade designs and tef coatings etc (and the fuel injection) you'd be able to do similar with one of those.

That being said, I'm all for the cool factor on something like this...IMO the only reason to go to a carbed setup on these would be to do a "throwback" like this, with a big cog blower and shotgun scoop etc. (whoa, I just got CRAZY de ja vu on this thread....have you and I had this same discussion?)

1. go with a Mezier electric pump so you can have more clearance for the blower belt, and eliminate 1 pulley.
2. somebody like this: http://www.bbman.com/products/v-belt-sheaves.html
could do it if you have dimensions and offset, which should be easy enough since you have the current alt pulley to measure off, you'd just need to know the offset on the crank.
3. which brings me to the crank......I'm not sure. The crank snout on these is around 1.4x" so its too large to convert any of the sbc/bbc stuff...BUT buick 455's had a crank pulley ID of abbout 1.44...SO if your willing to key the crank (with a 6-71 I'd hope), then you could get one of those machined and possibly get something to work.

Given, its all just floating thoughts, but its a start.

Re: V Groove Pulley's LS

I don't intend to match a whipple charger. I'm going hoodless for the most part and will save for the glass hood. With two 650DP's and a small amount of boost 600 something HP at the crank is pretty easy even with a mild cam. I'm building this as a daily driver and as a showcase for what can be coated with Rhino Liner. A good 85% of the truck will be shot with it, without texture its quite glossy. What isn't shot with it will be orange pearl base covered in candy tangerine with a pinch of green pearl mixed in for kicks.

I have a machine shop we use at work that will key the crank for me and add the blower pistons and cam at a very reasonable price.
