Lsx supercharged swap?
I was on ebay last night looking for some brackets when I stumbled across a listing for a vortech supercharger bracket for a fbody ls1. This got my wheels turning (no pun intended)with the thought of putting a supercharger on my 5.3 I'm doing for my truck.
Has anybody done a supercharger on their swap? I wonder how it'd work with my dirty dingo brackets. If I'm gonna do it, I would prefer to do it at the start, to get my tune right from the start. Any advice is most welcome. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Lsx supercharged swap?
I've been bouncing back and forth on this, versus running a single turbo on my lq4.
Power with a blower is good, comes on fairly quick and the torque is always good for smiles, but the initial cost is usually a bit higher. Procharger seems to be the most common on the truck engines (for centrifugal blowers), though at under ~500hp I've seen Vortech and a few Paxton trucks. Which front accessories are you running, and are you going to run A/c? My problem has been that I WANT my blower to sit on the passenger side upper, while running my truck accessories. Procharger brackets to not allow for that placement, with the exception of the Corvette setup....meaning I'd have to swap front accessory drive. Thats one of the biggest things besides cost thats made me hover back over going turbo. If you have the tools and or skill/time, you can do more of your own fab and positioning with a hair dryer, meaning you can save some money and set it up exactly how you want. The downside of course being boost leaks, more parts to break, and actually DOING the custom work. Hope it helps...cuz I still can't make my decision either

Re: Lsx supercharged swap?
I'm planning on all the marbles as it were. The closer I get to 30, the more I realize a/c is a wonderful thing, and I wanna use it. The ebay listing I saw said the brackets were for an f body, I'm assuming I'd have to change the whole accessory drive then.
I could probably design a bracket to work with the engine I end up with, but who knows at this juncture, it's all in the planning stages Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Lsx supercharged swap?
I've thought the same, many have. The problem ends up becoming belt wrap, which can be a pain to solve on the stock 6-rib style belts. Ends up needed a tensioner or aster bracket type deal, which you'd have to fab yourself if using a custom bracket.
