starter problems
I have a bell housing, flywheel,(10 inch) and new clutch and pressure plate. I tried to put my new starter on today and it looks like the starter needs the 11 inch flywheel instead of the 10. I don't think it will engage . Is there a different starter? It is the one that bolts onto the bell housing. The flywheel and bell housing and transmission came out of the same truck. I now have a 350 in front of it instead of the 6cyl.

Re: starter problems
I did the exact same engine swap, and my original starter worked just fine. I'm wondering if the parts house gave you the wrong starter.
I installed a 350 in place of the original 230 six cylinder, and I used the flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, bellhousing and starter all straight off of the 230 and onto the 350. It works perfectly. |

Re: starter problems
Do you know if you had a 10 inch clutch or 11 inch?

Re: starter problems
10 inch. I can't see how that matters though. The starter engages the flywheel. Some flywheels are drilled for either clutch size.

Re: starter problems
That is the same thing I have. The 11 inch clutch would not fit my fly wheel. The flywheel is smaller that takes the 10 inch clutch.

Re: starter problems
I fixed the problem. I got my flywheel mixed up with the other one and it was smaller than the original one. So after pulling the clutch and flywheel and getting another flywheel( mine was cracked) I put it back together and it worked fine. Thanks for the reply
