My trucks (65 C-30, 65 C-10, 71 C-10)
-New to this forum, thought I'd make a kind of introductory post here.-
The '65 C-10 is a longbed fleet with a 230 & column shift three speed, 3.73 gears. My father drove it for years and years, and it was pretty shot out to start with. I figure it probably has 300,000-400,000 miles (or more) on the engine (which I don't think came in the truck), still runs good and has never needed anything other than a copious amount of oil; got great mileage, too. The '65 C-30 I bought recently for $600. It has a 2 barrel 283 out of a car, SM420 four speed, and 4.57 eaton HO-72 rear. It's a 9' stepside, a former Coca Cola truck. (I have the bill of sale from when it was new) Kind of neat, IMO, real unusual, around here, anyway. I bought it as a hauler. I blew some smoke gray & semi gloss Rustoleum on it for now, still needs a lot of sheetmetal work but looks better than it did. The 71' C-10 is a shortbed fleet, has a 350/350 now; it's actually a real solid truck, very little rust. I don't know what I'm going to do with it yet, maybe a very mild hot-rod, I dont know. The "Submarine" username came from the '66 parts truck I bought. It had been totally underwater in the floods in '09, so it became the "Submarine". (Not creative enough to think of anything better for a username.) Pictures here, not a lot, will try to upload some more if anyone wants: http://s1067.beta.photobucket.com/us...10265297444095 Time to quit rambling. Chaz |

Thanks Clyde! Just drove the C30 again today. The little 283 runs great, and it drives great, even with the old bias tires. Not bad for a $600 truck I have less than $900 total in! Hope to make a gravel run soon and load it up, might even rig up a camera and film it.
Love these trucks! |
