Tremec TKO 500
Anyone running the Tremec TKO 500 tranny - curious with the bench seat whether I have to go with mid shift location - any help greatly appreciated. I've seen some pictures where some minor cutting was required but no mention of whether that was with the mid shift location or the aft location. Thanks again.

Not much help but I am running the TKO 600 in my 62 Impala SS and it's a fairly long tranny. Looking at my 65 pickup, I can't imagine the aft position would be useable but have not physically confirmed it. Any reason you don't want to use the mid position?

I have a TKO 600 in my '66 GMC. It's in the mid shift location which is about 6" closer to the seat then the original 4 speed was. I have the buddy seats, but the location of the front edge of the seat should be comparable to a bench. It fits fine, but I don't have anyone sitting in that position....

Only that it's about $400  and thanks newbe - that's what I was trying to get a sense of where it actually falls in the mid shift - I had seen a picture somewhere and it looked like they had to merely take a couple inches out of the stock opening but I wasn't aware of the position in that photo - nor can I find it any longer. So it sounds like the mid position is going to work best. I'm curious did you just bolt it up to your stock bell (which is what I'm looking to do)?

I am in mock up stage right now and the stock TKO shifter location (reversed) is right at the floor tunnel kick up. With the bench all the way back, it would come up right at the front edge. Mid shift is in my future.
