31x10.5r15 on 15x10. Looks OK to me. What's up with the approved rim being only 9 for that size tire? If I did this right, you should see pictures.

I like the wider rim look. They're hard to mount sometimes - to get the tire to seal on the rim so you can inflate it.

i use to see a lot of people do this, as long as you watch the air psi. and keep it full of air i think it should work...

Been ridin like this for a few months. No problems. Don't see the big deal. Is it really that UNSAFE? If so why?

i think the tire people will say it would be unsafe, because the ballooning of the tire and the wide rim would make it hard to air up, also if it were low on air in a sharp turn it could roll off the wheel. but almost any low tire can . i also think that the side wall would be more pron to be damaged easier...but like i said i have seen a lot of people run like this , and not have any trouble. i kinda like the looks. and would run them if that is what i had. i would just keep an eye on the psi....

Idk. I don't like how the tire is "ballooning" now think I'm gonna try to find some 15x9 or something and go with a nice highway tire.

I think the recommended rim width has to do with proper tire wear. When the rim is too narrow the tread will "crown" and wear the center faster. With a wider than recommended wheel the tread dips and the outer tread wears faster. There are different degrees of over/under and a 10" wheel with a 10.50 tire is first notch high. The actual tread width is an inch or so less and you don't want a tread surface narrower than your wheel width for proper contact

My step brother ran like this with 15x10's on his Cutlass for years cause the wider tire would rub the fender well. I personaly like more tire than rim but to each his own. It doesnt look bad.

If you want the 10" wide wheels you just need wide lower profile tires. This truck is lowered 4/4.









Edit: Now that I look at these pictures,he could have used wider tires,too. He had about the same situation as yours. Those came on that black '85. He now has 10" Vette-style rallyes with new tires that fit right. They're a tad taller,too,and the truck now has -6" rear springs

As you can see I have 15x10 Bette style rally too. What tire did he use?
