Re: aluminum radiator for a 1965 c10

There`s many of us here running a Champion, fit was great. Slight tweaking of the top bracket, have to use vacuum hose instead of the original rubber isolator.
Her`s a short thread on a few...http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...light=champion

Re: aluminum radiator for a 1965 c10

It all boils down to you get what you pay for. There are radiators all over the web ranging from $169 to $600.
I personally like the BeCool and Northern brands and usually convert to a crossflow type.
There are several bolt ins available.
One lace I just ran across is Wizard Cooling out of NY, and Cool Craft. Both seemed to be in the intermediate price ranges. Also Alumarad has a decent looking product for the money.

Most people will shop for the cheapest from the mail order places(summit, Jeg's, etc) which is cool. If you find a product with a part number-try Amazon.com- sometimes they will surprise you.

I'm running a champion in my 65 C20 and haven't had any problems, even in Las Vegas heat. I got the thicker model that is rated up to 600 horsepower though.

Re: aluminum radiator for a 1965 c10

I am one of the ones who uses the 140 dollar radiators from Summit.
With alittle minor bracket fabrication, they work great.

Ive used them in 4-5 trucks.

I live 35 minutes from Summit, so I have the advantage of going there, and I pull every rad out of box to verify its not beat the hell.
One time they had to bring 3 out til I was satisfied, but for 140 bucks, I'll take it.
That and a taurus e-fan, is my set up of choice.

It was 105 degrees last july at Goodguys in Columbus. I sat in bumper to bumper traffic and truck never got over 190.

Re: aluminum radiator for a 1965 c10

I ordered a champion rad, and sent it back. Both the upper bracket and lower cradles would have to have been cut for it to fit. I guess you get what you pay for, but I felt that if they said the rad would fit my truck... it should have fit my truck...
What I did in the end was send out my original rad for re-coring. Cost a bit more, but I am glad I did.
Kind of doesn't really answer your question, but just thought you might appreciate knowing that you may need to shave your top bracket, and bottom cradles to get the champion to fit.

Re: aluminum radiator for a 1965 c10

I just got my entropy radiator and from what my mechanic is telling me, the quality is awesome. I paid 722.31 shipped for mine. It is a bolt in radiator specifically made for an lsx swap (hose connections on the right) no mods required, with efans and harness. They also make a direct fit, no mods required, 2 row aluminum radiator with efans for the factory application good for up to 800hp. 649+shipping. See below.

Re: aluminum radiator for a 1965 c10

I know this is an old thread, but we also make bolt-in aluminum radiators for these trucks, that are hand-made right here in the USA, with no plastic / epoxy. We are a Gold Vendor here as well. We also offer discounts for forum members, and you can take a look at our website here:
http://rndfabrication.com/C10early.html

This is a downflow style we made, and we can make them for any engine combo (no price increase), and transmission coolers are included at no additional cost:

Re: aluminum radiator for a 1965 c10

Brass 3 tube radiator for the V8 trucks from Advance Auto, fits nearly perfect, looks closer to original, has auto trans cooler built in...(slight tweaking of DS lower radiator mount required to clear the DS trans cooler fitting). Ships to yer house free with code P20 and that also nets ya 20% off the price bringin yer total to less than 200 for a solid radiator. I run one in Ol John Lee and in Jr. I detailed installation on a V8 Truck and a 6 cyl Truck on the board here.

Whatever you do.....Do not buy a radiator from this outfit that I will link below'

http://www.speedcooling.com/1963-196...r/prod_37.html

They also sell their junk on Ebay. The radiator looks nice and appears to be well made but mine was defective and had a pinhole where a tube joins the lower tank. This can't be repaired. I didn't know it was bad for months because I wasn't ready to fill it and bring it up to temp until then. I have made multiple attempts to get this joker to honor his 2 year warranty. Will not return messages. Now I have a $200 junk radiator and need to buy a new one. STAY AWAY FROM ENGINEERED COOLING PRODUCTS. They are only cheaper the first time you buy them.

Also my experience with anything made in China is that if you need 3, you better buy 5. Obviously the radiator wasn't pressure tested. It's probably cheaper to replace the bad ones then to test them all.

Let me know what you think and some pics... would love to see one before I pull the trigger also.

Re: aluminum radiator for a 1965 c10

will you weld on threaded outlets for AN style fittings? if yes what does that run extra.

this is what I have now and after 8 years and 2 repairs I am ready for a replacement.

I welded on the electric fan mounts and overflow tank brackets.

I've been using one of these for around 3 years now. Fits well and still works great. I found them to be helpful too.

bmur....may be worth a trip to Illinois to get a replacement from them. If you had/have real concerns about this company, id urge you to post in the vender section and post a review so that other members can read about the concerns you have.
