Re: How to install on a 1959 gmc
Not my videos but found them on you tube...
Here is the side glass.... Here is the windshield... different year truck but done the same way.... On the windshield I did not need the tape to hold the seal in place.. I pulled the seal apart and made sure it was fully seated on the glass. I used automotive electrical wire instead of rope. I was told it slides on the rubber better without cutting seal, and I use spray silicon lubricant on seal and pinch weld. Line up the window in the frame and push it in. Before you pull the wire the seal should be all the way against the pinch weld. That way the only thing that is needed is for the lip to go over the pinch weld... Mine went in nice and easy.... Re: How to install on a 1959 gmc
Just a thought- windshields are rather expensive and NOT fun to clean up. It might be worth the $90-100 to have a company install it... that way, if they break it, THEY replace it

Re: How to install on a 1959 gmc
make sure you use a made in usa or original windshiled. Those cheap mexican made windshields are thin and not the correct shape.

Re: How to install on a 1959 gmc
I was told a couple years ago by two "big nationwide companies" that guarantee only applies if you buy the windshield from them. I don't know if they're all like that, but you might check first. Maybe they've changed their policies since then, I dunno.

Re: How to install on a 1959 gmc
If I had to do it all over again I would pay to have it installed. I tried 3 different times with 2 different friends and we finally broke it putting it in the 3rd time. Whatever you do absolutely no metal tools near the windshield, once you think you have the windshield centered, measure a couple times to ensure its dead center before starting to install, lots of soap and the string trick. Good luck!

I appreciate all of the concern...The 59 still has one of the small windows in the Passenger side window..Its bubbled with yellow and crap ..I was floored how old it was

Re: How to install on a 1959 gmc
i had to laugh at the guy ''I do have a clean and clear title which is rare to find on a truck this old.''
we have a lot of rare trucks on this site ![]() imo it's a little pricey, it might be worth it if it had a motor and trans so you wouldn't have to tow it home. it will still need rockers, cab corners and floors, call him in 2 mths when it hasn't sold and offer him 1500 to 1800

Re: How to install on a 1959 gmc
I know my dad installed the windshield in his 57 Chevy Bellaire by himself.. That glass has about the same shape. He just used suction handles on the inside to pull while pulled the rope... I was lucky to have a friend help me when I put the windshield in my truck...The windshield I used was made in China and the rubber was from Classic Parts... No problems and went right in...
