Seat Conversion

Hey guys I need your help once again glad to have a lot of knowledge people on this site.

I have a 77 chevy c10, with the stock bench seat well I purchased some seats that are from an ext cab of an 05 Tahoe is what I'm lead to believe. Here's a picture of the seats.



I know its not the best picture in the world I can take another if need be later today, but I'm needing help on how I could get these seats to work.

I was looking at these seat brackets from summit would it work?

What it looks to me is that you have either a H2 or Avalanche middle seat. I have the brown version out of a H2 personally myself.

My truck is a square body, but this should work out well for you too.

Take a regular bench seat, and chop it down to the lower base with sliders. Then cut down, and modify the H2 seats to fit onto the factory bench base.

I still have yet to do mine otherwise I would send you pics.

Okay, do you know by chance is there's a way to take of the the foam and everything from the standard bench seat?

I understand what your saying thought cut the H2 seat down to where it fit where the old original bench seat was mounted then mount the H2 seat there, am I understanding that correct?

Pretty much, but I would start by orientating you cut down bench on a work table just like it would sit in your truck.

Then orientate the H2 seat to the position you would like to be in when driving. Including final drive height. H2 seats are about 4 inches thick, and factory bench about 7 inches thick. Now take a level and mark the brackets so you can cut them. Set your newly cut seat upon you seat base frame, and tack the front section down. If you want your seat to still have the lean forward option weld the old brackets onto the front cutting the assembly down again to match. Then you'll likely need to fab cross braces for the rear mounting.

Either way the main point is to orientate the seat to your trucks position so you can make the cuts properly.

Also I intend to add a bit more recline to mine, and keep the fold action so I can use my under seat storage more effectively.

Yeah I haven't really decided if I want to still have a recline as there is already very minimal space due to me having the seat all the way back, but it gives me something to think about thanks man!!

i put a set of 2nd row seats out of a suburban in one of my sqaures, looks alot like what you have. Unless you are pretty short you won't like them.
They set to high and too close.
I cut all of the factory brackets off of the burb seats and welded a piece of 1/2" sqaure tubing to the frone of the seat and then bolted that to the stock track. On the back i welded a piece of round rod from one track to the other and then welded the seat frame to the rod. The tracks bolted to the floor with the stock bolts.
With the burb seats cut down as far as they could go they were still too tall for me at 6'.
