Has anyone modified thier core support for donor radiator?

I picked up an extra core support to try it out. I got the donor '08 escalade radiator and fan setup. Seems like if I can modify the core support to make it fit right then I save the headache ( and added expense) of radiator hoses, steam line, tranny line mods. Would make replacement parts easier i think? Has anyone taken this approach?

Someone used an oversized Dodge radiator and intercooler for a diesel swap but I havent seen the what you're talking about...I think they actually swapped the frame too... I was looking at using the fan from a similar truck.. the dimensions were off.. I think the radiator is both wider and taller....

It is definitely wider and taller. I think if I put round holes for the bottom radiator supports I can mount it like the factory mounted it in the newer vehicles. The width will be an issue, but I think I can make it work. I'm thinking that I can move the 'wings' on the core support for the stock radiator out a little bit. Instead of having the radiator be at an angle like stock on the '72, I think I can have it mount straight upright in the core support by slightly trimming the backside of the top Rail of the core support. I would also need to enlarge the opening from the front where the air hits the radiator. I guess we will just have to see.

Im running a 02 vette radiator with a set of 02 camaro fans. Just the right hight but narrower i had to trim very little off the top inner lip of the core support. Drilled two holes like you said. Then used two pices of aluminum strap bent with a 90 and drilled holes to go over the top pegs and secure it. The camaro fans need just a little trim to fit the vette radiator. But look like they are made for it. I got the radiator off ebay for 100$ it has oil and tranny cooler built in. Fans cost me 25 bucks from a guy on craigslist parting a v6 car. I used a resivore from a doner caviler

I forgot all about this thread. Yes I had great success. I have 40k miles on the engine swap at this point. I used the stock radiator and fans. I had to do some trimming on the core support, but nothing that takes away from the integrity of the support. I had a cover made out of sheet metal for the top to cover the gap and hold the radiator in place worked out really nice. Hoses are all good.

I used an Escalade radiator also..Like they said, just drilled to holes in the bottom of the core support for the mounts. I used some angle to make a mount
and covered it with a piece of 18ga steel.

Same here for my 5.7. I don't get why this is such an issue. Just my 2c
