Center Mounted Fuel Tank?
Has anyone attempted to mount fuel tank in center of chassis?
A few of our tray/utilities have tanks mounted in this location. See attached pics Is there enough room? I would like to use the area behind axle for hidden hitch and exhaust to exit at rear of truck. thanks Roger |

Re: Center Mounted Fuel Tank?
I'd have to measure to be sure, but I think the trucks you're looking at have much wider frames, so there's more room for tanks inside the frame rails.
The 73-up Chevy trucks had saddle tanks, with the tanks mounted on the outside of the frame rails, but the media claimed they were a time bomb. I've had saddle tanks on the 76 and 78 trucks, and aftermarket saddles on my 70, and none of them blew up, but you never know. |

Re: Center Mounted Fuel Tank?
With stock ride height, that may be possible with a leaf spring truck. If its a trailing arm truck, you'd probably be looking at raising the bed floor to make it work.
