Re: Front windshield
Safelite quoted me $250 installed for a new one, but I ended up finding one local on craigslist for $50 and doing it myself.

Re: Front windshield
Round here they're 40-50 in a junkyard or private and 70-80 new. I kicked myself the last time I bought a used one, should have spend another 20 and got one without rock chips! Being cheap ain't always easy : )

Re: Front windshield
I'm not sure where in Houston you are, check out a place called low cost auto glass, here's there address and numbers. (713) 943-0609, (281) 484-0202, (713) 943-0600 address is 10002 Old Galveston Road Houston, TX 77034 I've taken my old car there, and i've taken a friends suv there, seemed like they had good prices.
That's where I'm going to get my rear window done, and they wanted to charge me I think like 180 with install.

Re: Front windshield
$100 installed is the going rate here also.
Thats for the "made in China/installed in little Mexico" windshield. I have had mine since december and already has some staining or something that won't clean off. Safelite also quoted me $250+ As with everything else, you get what ya pay for..

Re: Front windshield
110 is the going rate here, some of these prices seem crazy high.

Re: Front windshield
Make sure installer has installed an old windshield before.
I called insurance agent for recommendation; I felt good. I didn't quibble about price. 67 windshield leaked like a sieve; my feet got wet and gauges went crazy. I couldn't believe they reused the decades old gasket They re-installed w/ a new gasket this time. Still leaked like sieve. Note: it never leaked a drop before install. Ended up fixing it my self and it was a pain. . |

Re: Front windshield
Pilkington brand glass is the best thing going right now. as long as your old gasket is still somewhat soft it will work fine unless someone has ripped it removing or reinstalling the glass in the past .a good installer can and should seal it up for you. I would .....but I like my job too
