How to attach the inner fender dust sheilds

I was able to pick up a set of OEM inner fender braces and new dust shield rubber from Tony at 4-5-6 chevy (Thank You) Does any one have an explaination on how to attach them of a guideline on placement?

Is it as simple as stripping some copper wire and making staples?

Yep! That's exactly what I did. I clamped them together drilled small holes and ran the wire.

I made staples out of some small wire several years ago. I made a radiator seal for my 65 out of some material I had purchased and used the original holes. It looks factory. Good Luck.

Re: How to attach the inner fender dust sheilds

I just used staples out of my staple gun. I held the piece of rubber in place and drilled holes in the rubber using the existing holes in the metal piece as a guide. The staples fit perfect, just shoved them through the rubber and bent them over.

Stainless paper clips has worked for me. You can reshape to fit old holes.

I have stainless staples here just for that purpose, I use a hammer and dolly to bend them over after drilling the holes.

I used a rivet gun. Drilled some holes through the molding and sheet metal, put some RTV adhesive on both the panel and molding, stuck them together and used a rivet.

Hi all. the corvairs "tins" ave the same type of staple to hold the rubbers. You can but the stainless steel wire from Clarks Corvair also.
