Re: 57 With Camaro front clip?
I also have a Camaro clip on my 59, and from what I can tell is if the steering box is behind the cross member towards the firewall then it is a first gen and and in front of the cross member it is a second gen. Checkout http://www.camaros.net/ alot of good info on Camaro's and ppl will try their best to help identify the clip. Hope this helps.

Re: 57 With Camaro front clip?
Correct. 1st gen, rear stear, goes from 67 to about 70 and 2nd gen, front steer goes from 71 to about 79 or 3rd gen.

Re: 57 With Camaro front clip?
I don't' know if you ever identified your year clip ,but if it was front steer. 2nd gen clips up to 1978 had smaller diameter outer spindles(3/4"), and 1979 to 1981 had larger outer spindles (.884- 27/32) after 82 the 3rd gens had struts
