Question just visiting have question

hi! I came over from the 67-72 message board, I need to know what you 47-55 pickup guru's could tell me about what type of newer frame I can put under a 49 chev p/u, I was thinking of up grading all the drive train and suspension, then it hit me, why not just set the body on a newer frame with disc brakes and newer running gear? the reason I ask is I got a line on a original 5 window 49 untouched, and was just wondering what my options are, love theses trucks, thanks for any advice you can give

I was just reading a post over at Hotrodders.com about this ... they're saying any 2WD S10 frame will work.

very interesting Alan, what do you think about S10 running gear like 4.3 v6, I'm just wondering about buying a complete S10 running gear and all, or do you think that's too gay, I do have a 305 V8 I could drop in, but I have no tranny, do you know if a 305 V8 bolts up to a 700r?

I'm not knowledgable enough to answer, Casey ... I'm a real greenhorn - just got my 'bolt in January and am learning and soaking info up like a sponge! I would ask all that at Hotrodders.com - those guys are full of the best answers for this kind of stuff.

Toomany2count is doing that swap on his 48 burb. You might want to ask him. I saw it in person and he is doing one heck of a job. And yes the 700r4 off a 4.3 will bolt up to a 305
