Faded Gauges
Have any of you restored your insturment panels? If so what did you use to paint the needles back to the factory "new" appearance? I bought a new vacuum gauge setup from a guy, and I would like to paint my tach needle to match the new gauges. Thanks,-J

I just painted mine testor's flourescent orange and it was too light to be the original color. I just painted them all the same color and it looks pretty good to me.

The color that was recommended to me is testors flourescent red.
It matches the original color very nicely, I think. Brian |

Yep....I think that is the shad I used also. It was an old bottle that the paint dripped over the label...sooooo Not exactly sure. I know I have bought that shade in the past for the models...so I guess that was the one.

Just another idea......Krylon Flourescent Orange is almost a perfect match, (Glow Orange Part# SCB-022) -- OR -- Testors Master Flourescent Red as mcgee said. If you try the Krylon too, let us know which looks better......maybe a picture of both together if you could.

I did mine and it was a near perfect match. Use the search feature and search for gauge paint or something close to that. I don't remember the exact color, but I think it was flourescent red. It's actually more orange than red. I brushed mine on and was very careful not to drip.
good luck |
