4X4 T5 Question

Can you use a 86' 4x4 S10 5 speed behind a chevy 230 I6? Is the 4x4 trans a completely different animal than the 2x4 T5?

Re: 4X4 T5 Question

I did a quick goodle search (hint) and it seems most of the threads say you have to change the 4wd trans output housing and shaft to a 2wd one. Then you have to figure out if it will fit the bellhousing, input shaft will work with the 230 clutch and engine, how much do you need to change the driveline, mounts, etc. There seemed to be quite a bit of threads on other boards listed.

Re: 4X4 T5 Question

I've read quite a bit on the T-5 swap...i just had a line on a cheap 86' s10 with a v6 but it was a 4x4 and couldn't remember reading anything about using one of those. I'm going to just keep my eye out for a 2x4....make it easier on myself.
