Airbags + Drag Racing = Busted Bags?
I have a question regarding airbags on my truck. Would the stress of hard launches at the track, basically pop my rear bags? I've heard from friends of mine, that airbags are the WORST for drag racing. Any suggestions? Right now, I have a flipped axle (5") drop, and I will be soon to have a posi. I want to get the BEST possible traction out of my suspension. So, would making a set of custom trac-bars give me all the traction I need? (Of course with a posi and a good set of drag radials.)
Thanks! |

Bags are used by alot of drag racers to control a straight launch from a HIGH torque motor. Put a 4 link and then bag it and you should be ok.

I totally second that motion. Being able to pre-load the right rear is what most drag racers shoot for, but then you get to drive home from the track crooked unless you have bags. As far as durability, not a problem.

You will have great traction with a 4-link and airsprings. Often, you can tow and haul more than stock with bags, so there won't be any durability issues.

If you go with a 4 link and bags you will be fine. Bags work great for traction as long as it set up right. If you bag your truck with stock leafs and take out some leafs it will light them up- So I would go witha 4 link. and some F9000 behind the axel bags

That's when the airsprings are located behind the axle. This picture may give you a better idea.
