does anyone have a wiring diagram for the starter?

83' shorty. Im constantly having to unplug my battery every night bc its draining over night. Chased all my wires and no exposed hot wires. So im thinking that my starter could be wired backwards somehow. Thanks in advance.

How many terminals are on the starter? Should be two, one large and one small, unless there is also a small wire with the large one that supplies power to the rest of the truck.

Yes, two terminals one has two wires coming off it, battery to starter and other small one is on the same terminal going into the harness. Then second terminal is Ground i believe.

Re: does anyone have a wiring diagram for the starter?

The second small wire by itself should come from the ignition switch. It supplies 12 volts to the solenoid which moves the solenoid making a contact inside to supply 12 volts from the large wire to the starter motor which turns over the engine. The movement of the solenoid also makes the starter drive engage the fly wheel.

If there is a small wire with the large one it supplies 12 volts power to the fuse panel.
