Re: Directions Needed for Georgia
it really depends on if you want to make time, or go for the scenic drive.
Personally, I always liked the drive across US80. If it were me, and I wanted to take my time and have a nice drive, drive across US80 to Macon, then US129 to Athens then US441 back up to I85 This JUST to avoid Atlanta. If you want to avoid the interstates altogether, there are many other choices. All depends on how long/scenic you want to get. Many of the state hwys and US hwys are MUCH nicer drives than the Interstates and most of the time you cant go wrong. |

Re: Directions Needed for Georgia
go to wal Mart (or any decent truck stop) and get a Rand Mcnally Motor Carriers Atlas. Those will have all the road that are "designated" truck routes. Any road that is listed as a truck route in that book is a decent road. Now most of the roads that are not listed as truck routes are good too, but you wont have any issues with the roads in orange highlight. I keep one in every car/truck I own. When I was driving over-the-road, I swore by that book.
US1 is a good road nearly its entire distance. Very rarely is a US highway bad. |

Re: Directions Needed for Georgia
You can drag to change route.
Suggested routes Don't blame you on avoiding Atlanta! Traffic is madness! Especially during rush hour! I can't stand Atlanta! I-85 N 911 mi, 13 hours 44 mins I-20 E 900 mi, 13 hours 58 mins I-40 E and I-85 N 951 mi, 14 hours 44 mins https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=D...=us&mra=ls&z=7 Posted via Mobile Device
