Sic 73 Crew - New Project

New to this forum. Found a lot of great info about this new project I just picked up. The ride is bagged at all 4 corners with 6 switches. Going to start with paint and interior. The truck is currently on 20's and thinking about 22's. A friend mentioned the idea of a 3-4" chop which sounds like a interesting idea. None the less, pictures to come as I move through the project. Lots of great info here so I am sure I will have plenty of questions.

Yah... I saw a mid 90's crew dually with a chopped top and you are right, crews do not look great. If I spend the money I will shorten the bed instead.

Re: Sic 73 Crew - New Project

Has any needed to change their gear in their differential to get decent highway mph? What gear ratio to use? Thanks for any insight.

As long as your not pulling a trailer 3:42 is the highest you can go.

Nice truck! I agree, don't chop it. I think I'd leave it a long box. Everyone is short boxing them now.

Re: Sic 73 Crew - New Project

This is my first project of this truck and so there is a lot I am still learning. i want to run a bumper with a hitch that is hidden behind the license plate so I can tow the boat below to boat shows.

Does anyone know of a company that makes that kind of hitch?

I found the hitch early classic makes http://www.earlyclassic.com/catalog....iver%20Hitches but these are for trucks from 67-72.
Does anyone know if you can install a hitch from that era onto the 1973 Chevy frame? I do not want to buy on and have it not fit since shipping is so much..

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Re: Sic 73 Crew - New Project

You should be able to find several threads on here where people have done the hidden hitch behind the license plate, but I believe they are all homemade. There is no kit that you can buy that I'm aware of.

Nice truck!

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Re: Sic 73 Crew - New Project

Okay, okay okay... I know what I said. I just need my sanity

I am trying to keep my self sane by posting the pictures that shows progression... This project is taking forever for me. I feel like my parents took my toy away from me and I cant wait to play with it... Except this has been self inflicted. lol.

I decided to completely finish the system with some custom pieces... All new audio wiring.... Crossing my fingers that this thing will be done this week. Not only did I forget to take the bumper of I forgot to pull the carpet out and paint the floor pan... Oh well.

New custom speaker box going behind the rear seat with 2500 watts under the seat

The new suede headliner is in though... I am very pleased with it. I think is looks really good. Very plush.

This is what she looked like the night I got her home from paint before taking her in to get the interior and system done... Hope the inside turns out as great as the exterior.
