More eyes are better than my 2
Just set motor in and (2000 truck 5.3) and truck manifolds don't fit and oil pan is touching center link. I'm installing into a 72 c-10. I have the cpp tubular mount kit installed.... Is this normal?

i used the dirty dingo 3 inch silder moutns and installed mine all the way to the back of the mounts truck pan cleared fine but the truck manifold would not i ended up using the trailblazer ss manifolds and they cleared perfect

The cpp mounts I used moved motor 3 inches forward also... Don't see but one way for them to go on as far as height tho

I was going to say it souns like you're too far forward. Happened to me with ECE kit...wound up using sbc towers mounted to sbc motor mounts, bolted to a adapter plate that bolted to the motor mount area on the block. Could have used truck manifolds with slight frame trim and the stock truck oil pan worked fine on the stock cross member.

I couldnt use the CPP tubular mounts, I used the POL mounts here (http://www.performanceonline.com/196...RACKETS-16820/)
also used Sanderson CSLS1 headers, fit was perfect

clyde65. i am trying to set my 5.3 with 4l60e in my frame. I have the POL tube mounts and an ece trans cross member. Do you have any pics of your mounts setup? I am having trouble lining everything up.

Same with the oil pan, the truck pan will hit or hang below the cross member on many swaps, and if you move it far enough forward to not do this, it will this come close to the center link and you'll be short on room to mount a fan depending on what rad your going to run. The trailblazer SS manifolds are a popular header option, as are the doug thorley swap headers if you want a long tube. There are a few other option like camaro manifolds or hooker cast manifolds but some fitment of those will depend on exactly where your engine falls in the engine bay. The oil pan can be swapped out for something like the LH8/Hot rod pan easily, as well as a few others like the ctsv or fbody pans. Lists of compatible items are throughout the sticky's and builds.

I used the cheapy Ebay mount plates on mine and the stock truck pan cleared just fine on my 05 LQ4.
TBSS Pacesetters fit just fine. Maryland Speed was the best price I found for them. |

Found my problem... I needed to put my Cpp mounts in the big block location. Oil pan clears fine now and ordered tbss manifolds.

Jon, does your pan hang below the cross member?
It may not be an issue for some, just something to keep an eye on if you run a large drop... ...or alternately power lift the front end and panic and let off the throttle and slam the front end down...but I wouldn't know anything about doing that and blowing the shocks up.

Yeah about an inch.
I don't jump RR tracks though so it shouldn't be an issue. The stamped steel pan on my Charger is about 8" off of the ground. THAT one you have to be careful of. I am not concerned about this pan one bit. Cast aluminum will take quite a whack before it breaks. |
