Serial # Vin #

Hi new to this site; I have just purchased and I am trying to find information about a 1950 1 Ton Chevrolet P/U
Door plate has on it
General Motors Of Canada
Model#1434
Serial #0143416066
Engine#X384610
Trim#394
Body Serial#1416
Paint#92
This truck was purchased new in South East Saskatchewan and was used to haul 25 loads of grain by the original owner but he found that it was not quite big enough so he bought the bigger 2 Ton and drove the P/U back and forth to the fields. It was then barn stored and used for a total mileage today of 3687 miles for the next 55 + years then bought and driven for a couple of years by the second owner. It was insured and driven occasionally until last fall 2012. After I took it for a test drive ( it did need a boost to start ) original 6 volt system, ALL lights and gauges are working. I drove it straight onto a car trailer and then off at my garage near Edmonton Alberta.
I do have about 30 picture but I will need to re-size as they won't download on this site.
Insurance already purchased and out of province inspection are next.
Any help with deciphering the Serial # would be very much appreciated.
Thanks for the great site and for the opportunity to show or at least talk about my winter project.

Re: Serial # Vin #

The serial number if you are using the number off the door post tag doesn't jive with US door post tags.

Here is some good info that many of us have used in the past:

I think that this one is what you are asking for though

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: Serial # Vin #

My truck has some Saskatchewan roots as well, but eventually found its way to Manitoba.

Check out this link: http://antiquechevytrucks.com/advance-design/

Here is a link to a Canadian VIN interpretive site: http://www3.sympatico.ca/marcel.gaut...tml#1955-57CAN

Some really good info on that site as well - history, identification tips, etc.

Good luck !
