Is your truck equipped with stock drum brakes up front or has it been converted to disc brakes?

Re: Tie rod end p/n 65 chevy swb stepside
This new tie rod that goes by the tire looks like the its the same length as the rear tie rod.it looks like its a inner instead of outter(next to the tire) rod. Has anyone replaced tie rods and noticed they are longer than the stock ones than the truck originally had.The part number is right but the part its self looks wrong.only thing I can thing I can think of is either my suspension has been changed to a later model or the new part is improved

Whoever worked on it last may have put the tie rod assy in backwards, inner rod to the outside. One is right thread and one is left so that you can turn the sleeve and adjust it in and out. Doesn't really matter which way it goes functionally until you start repacing stuff.

Re: Tie rod end p/n 65 chevy swb stepside
Could your '65 be on a '63-'64 frame?
60-62 trucks had torsion bar front suspension.

Re: Tie rod end p/n 65 chevy swb stepside
Have them look up the INNER tie rod and compare it to that- like mentioned before, it's not uncommon for them to have been installed backwards at some time- it does not effect how they work, tho.

http://contentinfo.autozone.com/znet...S323L/image/4/
This is the ES323L outer tie rod for a 1964 C 10 2WD The matching inner is an ES 678 The 1965-66 uses the ES350L outer and ES370R inner |
