Barrett Jackson
Me, my brother, and Mike Tyson all went to Barrett Jackson in Vegas this weekend. Well, Tyson wasn't actually with us, but we kept running into him.
Anyway, for those that missed it, there were NO nice stock trucks, at least not that I saw. Tons of "custom" trucks, and not in the good way [ie: Chinese chrome valve covers and dashes cut up general ugliness]. If you had a nice truck in the auction, it's completely possible I missed it. In fact, that was the trend of the entire auction. I've been half a dozen times, and each year there are more "custom" (ie - crappy builds) than stock. I sometimes think you could make money by buying otherwise solid cars and taking all of the JC Whitney garbage off and replacing them with stock pieces.

Re: Barrett Jackson
Is this your truck that you sold at the auction? Or why is it in this thread?

I wouldn't pay $88K for that, but then I wouldn't pay $168K for an undocumented, RESTAMPED LS6 car either, but someone did. Here's two of my engines - as you can see, I appreciate either style. Just not crap.

Re: Barrett Jackson
I would say there are a lot on nice trucks and cars sold at B/J. Some heavily modded and some slightly modded. I also would say there are some questionable vehicles.
It all comes down to one's taste and also the verbiage: "Buyer beware".

Re: Barrett Jackson
I sure do miss the original restorations. Custom stuff can be cool, but all the billet and shaved stuff was already boring by the early 90's.

Re: Barrett Jackson
I'm definitely not a slave to trends, you will never see anything of mine all blacked out. I like the polished look, but the china chrome stuff is just all bad. I've see way too much crap go through the auctions loaded with china chrome to give it the "eye candy appeal". People see all the shiny stuff and go crazy with bidding. I watched a late 90s mustang go for over $20k just because of all the "add-ons". I was looking at it thinking "this car wouldn't be bad if you removed everything"
When I think of Barrett Jackson, china crap is one of the last things I think of, it's sad that it's made with way through to the original home of the million dollar collector cars.

Re: Barrett Jackson
There is always a downside, that's why I've always felt it was better to build it the way you want it, rather than buy what someone else wanted to build.

Re: Barrett Jackson
There seems to be more trucks at BJ every year and they seem to bring pretty good money.
This 72 Custom deluxe long bed brought 20K it was a nice unrestored truck .
