Cab marker lights

I know some love them, and others hate them. Anyway, I put some Yankee 77 copies on my truck the other day, and I thought I'd share a picture, FWIW.

Re: Cab marker lights

I'm a fan of the lights. Yours look great. I've got a set of 3 original that were painted instead of chrome. I had never seen ones that weren't chrome. I am restoring them and they will be going on my truck.

Re: Cab marker lights

Hey 66submarine, seein how your's is the camper special stepside, did it come factory on that line of truck to have the fender plates like that? that's really interesting. Also, dig the photos, truck looks good with the lights, how did they wire in with the cab? I might consider doin that myself, you said they were Yankee 77 copies?

Well, it's pretty well "custom" by now, and if I threw a camper on it I guess it could be considered a "Custom Camper".

Re: Cab marker lights

Thanks again, everyone.

The wiring was pretty easy. I used bailing wire to run it and to make little hooks to fish it out. The biggest pain was getting the main wire ran down the cab; the inside cab/headliner seam made the wire want to hang up, and even if I went over it, it would catch in the "hook" at the top rear of the cab. I eventually tied a fishing sinker to a piece of line and stuck it on the end of the bailing wire; this allowed me to run the sinker back over the seam and drop it, and it fell down by the filler neck where it should. After that I could tie the wire to the fishing line and pull it through. (I also parked on a hill to make this easier).

FWIW, mine are Taiwanese "United Pacific" #30076. I got them on ebay for $40 for the set of 5 with free shipping. They seem pretty decent; the cast countersinks for the screws could be nicer, and I'd like to have a rubber gasket instead of foam, but otherwise they seem pretty good. (And a healthy dose of sealer should fix those two problems)

Dillon; AFAIK the "Camper Special" trucks (at least in the 60-66 era) were all fleetsides. Mine is just the standard one ton 9' pickup; all that stuff over the fenders is 14 gauge (IIRC) steel treadplate that someone also lined the bed in. (BTW; they still managed to bell all of that out by dropping stuff in it; it's always been a hardworking truck, lol)

My dad's crew cab came with them since it was a c60. He restored them and put them back on, I think they look cool, especially at night!

Re: Cab marker lights

66submarine, I've only seen two of those C-30 stepsides on ebay that said they were a kind of camper special (I could be wrong and it could've been something that someone threw in the title of the ad back then) but I do know those are a bit hard to come by now-a-days, lol. markeb01 thanks for the illustrations on the marker lights, I will gladly use those when I get a set of lights.

Re: Cab marker lights

I love them and suspect I would fit up to 5 given the chance to my truck.

Also like the shaped after market items, like Eagles heads.

Never see them here in England though.

Re: Cab marker lights

So finally ordered a set of 5 cab marker lights to install when I get back from deployment. Instead of what 66submarine has which is the copy of the Yankee 77, I found the Do-Ray model 410.

Re: Cab marker lights

I'm thinkin of Paintin them white like the roof of the truck or clear coating them after a good polish, lol. Easyy thing about installation is I have a hole no bigger than a dollar that someone tried to bondo and failed (on the upper roof skin) so this should help with installation with the wires, lol.
