Cheapskate budget bed build

Some wood flooring, carpet binder strips and fasteners make a low cost bed floor that will do until the real thing can be done.

That looks good. I assume that's laminate flooring?? As long as it doesn't get wet it should last a good amount of time. I'm still trying to decide if I'm going to keep my patina, go with a Photina or rustoleum professional. If I go with one of the first 2 options I would like to find some old barn siding or something for bed wood. As slow as I'm moving on my project I could buy some 1x8 pine and let it sit outside. It would have a nice aged look by the time I get around to using it.

Looks absolutely fine, congrats on finding a nice way to do it for low dollars! Looks better than mine!

I had a 4x8 sheet of OSB leaning against the wall of my garage, cut it to length, then found a truly old quart of Man 'O War spar varnish I didn't know I had any more. I skimmed a thin "skin" off the top, mixed it as best as I could, dumped the ENTIRE quart on the OSB and spread it around with a little foam roller. The OSB sucked it all up and came out.....ok. It'll do til it doesn't or I get around to putting a real bed floor in it.

Are the carpet strips your full bed length? Is the laminate flooring being used alone or is it on top of some plywood or some other backer?

The carpet strips go full length. The were 8' long so I only had 19" of waste. The flooring is a wood laminate, tongue and groove in 8" planks. It is supported at the sides, ends and two intermediate cross bars. I keep after it with a Min Wax rub on poly product.
