Displacement on demand (active fuel managment)

Alright, on my second swap here. I want to keep DoD or active fuel management.. what all is required to keep it with my swap? 85 K5 Blazer Gen IV 5.3 4L60e. As a side note.. the second time around is much easier and quicker.

I think most people deactivate it because it can be problematic, but I don't think it would be hard to keep. You would need both the ECM and TCM, and juts wire it up like any other swap and I would think it would still work. I don't believe you would need the instrument cluster, but without it you'll never know when the DOD goes active.

Something I was wondering, can DoD be used with a manual trans or is it only designed to work with automatics?

I wouldnt keep the dod/active fuel management, most guys @ ls1tech. com with that engine not only deactivate it but, also delete it all together.

Dod is awesome in stock swaps where known variable are at work. Once you start combining it with performance tunes stuff gets weird. Ask the chrysler guys in the Srt8 community how they feel, and just like they Chevy guys, they disable AFM/DOD.

I don't think it was/is an option on manual cars.

+1. The AFM lifters are a weak link. If you are going high horsepower, you might want to delete it...otherwise leave it in. You can always turn it off in the tune.
