Front Marker Lights

This may be a stupid question, and I have searched the FAQ for an answer but find none. Why are some of the front marker lights Amber and some clear? Just different packages?

Re: Front Marker Lights

All production side markers are amber, by federal law.

Any clear ones you see are either faded to clear or replaced by the owner with an aftermarket clear lens.

Re: Front Marker Lights

The front blinker/parking lights on the 82 used to be amber, but have now faded to clear, I didn't know there was a law saying clearance/blinkers had to be amber. Good to know!

Re: Front Marker Lights

Replacement side marker lights were like $10 each from Classic Parts in Kansas City, they look great, the front marker/bliner assy for my 82 is a bit pricier but those were clear, but with amber bulbs

Re: Front Marker Lights

I think he's referring to the markers under the headlights.

My '78 Cheyenne has clear lenses with amber bulbs underneath. There is chrome trim on the lenses.

I think the lesser models just had amber lenses.

Re: Front Marker Lights

Yeah those were the ones I was talking about. My buddies 75 has the amber lenses and my 76 has the clear lenses, with the amber bulbs. Thanks for clearing that up. I did buy my cab clearance lights from classic parts with clear lenses on them and got amber bulbs. Also got a set of clear side marker lenses and will use amber bulbs. Clearly---get it, you have answered my question about the clear lenses clearly Thanks fellas

Re: Front Marker Lights

1 more fun fact:
The chrome trim doesn't last 30 seconds when your bashing through the alders
