4L60E & 2004 LQ4, nuts and bolts ??

The question I have is I just picked up a 5.3 and 4L60E and they were not mated together, but from the same yard. I need to add some bolts (8) to put them together!

What size MM bolts do I need, as I am just learning MM , I am from the "old" school of inches !!

Also the transmission has 9 bolt holes for mounting and the engine has the top bolt hole plugged, I don't think this will be a problem "but" just asking, 8 bolts should keep it in position !!
The bolts that go into the oil pan, are they different than the engine bolts, or all the same length and pitch?

The other question I discovered on the foot feed (gas peddle) there is another plug or vacuum switch, what is this for, do I need to worry about it?

The transmission looks like it has a new T. converter as it is freshly painted, or very new looking, how can I tell what I have, should I replace the front seal while it is on the floor?

The cast iron block has a 4.8 and a 5.3 casting on the rear of the block under the flex plate on the passenger side below the cylinder head, and the yard "assured" me that the numbers said it was a 5.3. It came from a 04 Tahoe, at least that is the one he showed me and by the broken bracket I think it is the same engine.

Thanks for your help

Re: 4L60E & 2004 LQ4, nuts and bolts ??

8 bolts is fine, just make sure that the tranny has the 300mm input shaft if you can, this makes sure its the "ls" compatible 4l60es, as occasionally someone gets an "old" 60e, which has not recieved the upgraded parts required to survive behind a v8.

When you say "Engine bolts", which ones do you mean? Most of the stuff on these is; 10-14mm depending, with a few oddballs in 8mm, 15 and 17. 95% if not all of the bolts are fine thread from what I can remember. The hardest ones to find in my opinion are those for the front accessories. They are fine thread, but only threaded on the last few inches, with very long shanks, and hex heads with the "built in washer" head....there might be a name for them....but I just walked in from a very loud concert in which my face was properly melted off....so sorry I can't be more useful....

Re: 4L60E & 2004 LQ4, nuts and bolts ??

Trans ID

1 - 4= 2004 3= 2003 etc, etc.
2 - Model, Cx= 2wd truck, Kx= 4wd truck, Fx= Camaro/Firebird etc, etc.
3 - Hydra-Matic 4L60-E
4 - Julian Date or Day of the Year
5 - Shift Built
6 - Serial Number
7 - Case/Pan Frame Rail Location
8 - Optional Transmission ID Location, Tag Is Used as a Back-Up If Unable To Etch Case/Pan Area and To Bar Code Scan

If the bellhousing has the top center bolt hole....It's a 300mm version.
