What are you guys running for power steering lines?

Ive got the factory power steering box but a newer GM pump on my Holley LS accessory brackets. Obviously the original hard lines arent bent to meet up with the new pump. Anyone have any simple yet effective solutions they've come up with, or am I going to have to delve into the world of tube bending?

I am running the stock high pressure hoses that came with my engine. Not sure if this will help but here is a picture.

Re: What are you guys running for power steering lines?

I have an 84 Burb box/hoses on my longhorn (o ring fittings on the hoses), the hose bolted right up to the LS pump. The return line needed a little "tweek', to clear the frame, & there was a cut out spot on the frame , that was cut out a bit farther. Otherwise, you should be able to take the pressure relief, out of your stock pump, & use it in the LS pump, with your original hoses? Longhorn

I swaped the 1inch fitting in the back of the ls pump for the one off the 71 pump and used the stock 71 hose

No need to over think it....as stated, it will work I did tweak the return line on the pump, & trimmed a bit off the frame rail, for clearance on my swap. best of fun...Longhorn

Re: What are you guys running for power steering lines?

1. Bending lines in general is annoying, but you probably shouldn't be swapping engines if bending some lines makes ya squirm. I HATE bending lines, but a decent tubing bender is worth every penny when you don't have to try 8 times to get the right bend.

2. You can pull the whole thing off and have a place like Parker swage a different end/fitting/adapter on that end. Still not practical for everything, as they are designed for industrial use and a bit bulky

3. You can go to Edelmanns' website and find the stub-end of the fitting you need. They use unions just like a regular brake line, and can terminate on whatever end you need. I found this to be the best solution for my Hydroboost setup, which means PLENTY of awkward tubing routes.

Re: What are you guys running for power steering lines?

Does anyone happen to know the fitting size for the pressure and return line into the box, and the pressure line into the GM Corvette pump? Ive got some left over braided line from the fuel system and may just get the fittings to adapt it to 6-AN and cut the line to fit like I did with my fuel lines

11/16"-18 SAE flare....Early Gear box pressure.
5/8"-18 SAE flare....Early Gear box return.
16x1.5mm O-ring....Late GM pump output.

Re: What are you guys running for power steering lines?

I swapped the old fitting on my old PS pump to my new PS pump and used my stock (factory) old lines. A little tweaking and 9 years later it is still working like a champ.
I guess that is what truckdude did also.

Re: What are you guys running for power steering lines?

In order to build a line for the Corvette pump you are going to need to get the following fitting so that the line won't interfere with the pulley. Take a look at this thread:

Re: What are you guys running for power steering lines?

I had a van pump that turned out to have a simple 3/8" flare fitting on the back. I took a piece of 3/8" brake line from AutoZone, put a 90 degree bend on it and a flare union at one end, and it hooked right up to my stock high pressure line.

Re: What are you guys running for power steering lines?

There are companies that do custom hydraulic lines... they are very cost effective and will make them on site for you. That way you can get the right fit and finish.
