pipe dream but please read anyway
These are just a few questions regarding my truck, and how to beat those pesky New Yorkers.
1. Is it very difficult (read expensive) to build a turbocharged 350? If so, how much $? 2. Is there any possible way to have an AWD system for my truck? This, I believe, would be a sleeper of sorts because I could have slightly wider tires, such as 265ish series, and still retain amazing traction -- or so I hope. 3. Have any of you ever had similar ideas? I got mine from thinking of how to beat the most extreme ricers at their own game. 4. Remember that this is my DREAM, which means that I will probably never do this. I, however, wish to know approximately how much it will cost, to motivate me to get my engineering degree so I can make the big bucks. Thank you for all responses, and maybe I have rekindled such dreams in you.

Why AWD? That would be sweet though!! But traction bars and posi. shoud do the trick.

Yeah, but traction bars would be a giveaway. I'm going for ultimate sleeper here, with only the turbo whine giving the power away.

look at the AWD system under an Astro van. That should give you an idea of how to do it. As for the turbo, why not put a blower on it. It wouls be a heck of a lot cheaper.

But see, the key here isn't cheap but cool. I'm going for something totally off-the-wall and unique here. Your solutions re great, but a turbo is so much cooler than a blower, and I'm going for beating the ricers at their own game with the turbo. Might even put a wing and stickers all over it and claim to have 100 extra hp. And I have to put these engineering classes I'm taking to good use.

well a turbo would be cool, but in a big heavy truck the turbo lag might kill ya, for the low end grunt to get ya moving fast i would suggest a blower.

Get two turbo's, one small and one large, that will get you moving quickly -small turbo- and will give you upper rpm power -large turbo. The small turbo should work at lower rpm, long enough to get the large one spooled up. Excellent in theory, but I probably don't know what I'm talking about.

There'd be an actually easier/cheaper way to do it.
Just swap in a 383cid bottom end, with a cam ground to suit a blower. Slap on a set of ProTopLine 180cc Aluminum Heads, along with a B&M 144cid PowerCharger, put an Edelbrock EFI system atop it. That way, you'd have good gas mileage, along with one bad ass ride! With that 144cid Powercharger, you could push 8psi and you'd run real quick, real quiet. |

or put the same procharger on a big block, with a good set of aluminum heads. That will definitely take care of the low end, and have a good top end too. I think that would work even without stickers
