rear springs for 59
Hey guys,
I did a camaro clip ( stacked style ) and flipped the rear end on top of the springs on my 59. I love the ride height but found that my rear springs are shot. One side the main leaf below the one with the springs eyes is broken and the spring pins where worn almost halfway through. Here's my question: What's my best bet for a rear leaf set up? The flip on top of the stock springs dropped the rear end about 6". I plan on doing a C-Notch, would like to avoid a step notch if possible. Option 1: I have been looking at the cpp or tci rear leaf kit which is supposed to drop the rear end 3 to 4". One option would be to get one of these kits and run a 2" lowering block. Option 2: has anyone flipped their rear axle on top of a set of posies superslide springs? They claim 3" drop over stock. ( Not sure how much the original springs have sagged, this might give me a similar ride height. ) Just wondering if this will drop it too much? Option 3: Another option is a new set of stock height springs, but this might actually raise the truck because the stock springs have probally sagged a bit over the years. This will also not improve the ride any. I am leaning towards option 1 because by the time I get a pin, bushing and shackle kit, with option 2 or 3 it will end up costing about the same anyway. What's everyone's experience? I want my truck to sit level with the camaro clip. Thanks. |

Re: rear springs for 59
59Chevy,
I originally flipped the leaf springs via new perch plate on my GM 10 bolt, and remove a couple of leafs. It still didn't sit level with my Camaro clip - unless I loaded the bed with concrete blocks! I ended up installing a Fat Bar set up from No Limit and love the way it sits now. Jim |

Thanks Jim
Did you go with Airbags or coilovers with the fatbar setup? how was the install? |

59,
Went with their package which included adjustable coil overs. Must admit I had a local hot rod shop weld up the brackets for me. Jim |
