Re: 69 longhorn ls swap(pics)
There were some pics on Web shots, but I think they are long gone now? If you punch in Illinois Longhorn, there is a walk around clip on U-tube. Late @ night, its pretty dark, but give an idea about the truck overall & exhaust sound @ idle... longhorn

Re: 69 longhorn ls swap(pics)
Everybody screams for pics? We all know that there are a dozen or so different ways to do this swap I hope that the pics on the fit will help the next guy playin.....will run down some specs on the build. Note that she is running, but not done On the mounts/stands that I have,I would not recommend the engine that deep to the firewall. My firewall was recessed, in the mid 90's, for a BB Olds that was set deep. The 383 that I ran after that set good in that spot, but a little tight on the HEI. I pulled the trans crossmember 1" forward (holes were there in the frame), & slotted the stock I6/250 stands forward. I then added 1" to the front of the stands, for the eng mount to sit on. The block plates are a Carshop Inc part, with a urethane mount set. Hooker street rod shorties, with a set of mandral bent downs connect the headers to the rest of the system. The pan is a GMPP hotrod pan (H-3 Hummer). The bell housing is a 1955 cast(car bell), that bolts the 6 spd Richmond trans. This one was done a little differenty , than most are....but any questions on fit/clearances, I am here to answer. Sorry about the carb on that little "fuelie"....but she sounds like a cruiser to me Longhorn

Re: 69 longhorn ls swap(pics)
Glad to see someone else used those headers!! I've brought those up a few times on the many (swap headers) discussions on here, and everyone wants to spend $400 on a set of long ones. Although I had to build my own 2 1/2" reducers because mine came with 2 1/4", plus I pointed them straight down instead of at the oil pan.

Re: 69 longhorn ls swap(pics)
Amen brother, those headers fit around the gen 1 clutch linkage, on my 2wd truck...(a big thank you, you showed them to me)! I also went 2 1/2" on the pipes..(speedway motors , stainless tubes). The tubes are mandrel bent... (90 down, & about a 30 kick on the bottom)? They hit the stock pipes really damn close to where the headers were on that Gen I ,383 Longhorn

Re: 69 longhorn ls swap(pics)
Hooker#2312 (painted), or #2313 (ceramic coated). The painted versions can be had for around $225, Summit, Jegs, or Carshop inc. I did blast & recoat mine with a high temp bbq grill paint to give a tougher coating. Longhorn
