1965 C20 Trailing Arm Bushing same as C10?
I'm planning to have my rebuilt Chevy 14 bolt rearend powder coated before insalation into my `65 C-20 and thought I might take the trailing arms along. Started looking for new bushings for the remount and can't find any 3/4 tons listed anywere. So, my question is: Are these bushings the same specifications for 1/2 & 3/4 ton? Size and carrying capacity?
Thanks in advance for your time and imput. |

I have a '64 C-20, and I used Energy Suspension bushings. They only called out 1 part number, and I figured that they're all the same. The Energy Suspension bushings just swap out the rubber guts for urethane inserts and leaves the outer bushing shell still in the arm.

Classic Parts lists the bushings in both rubber and Poly. They specify for coil spring rear suspension trucks 60-72 all as same part number.
That's worth what you paid for it. I'm on my iPad or I'd download the Energy Suspension catalog and look closer.

I think the only difference in the truck arm suspension between a 1/2 and 3/4 ton is the helper springs on the C-20.

There are slight differences in the trailing arms. The 3/4 ton arms have reinforcement plates welded to them from the factory that the half ton units lack.

Found 3/4 ton bushings at Truck Stop (http://www.truckandcarshop.com/trucks60_72/t60_138.html). Called their customer service and they confirmed that they measured differently than the 1/2 ton, though they declined to elaborate.
Thanks all. |

Re: 1965 C20 Trailing Arm Bushing same as C10?
What is the final verdict on this? Are the C20 bushings the same size as the C10's? I can't seem to find any solid confirmation, and I need to replace the ones in my '66 soon. By the time I get my crusty old ones out of the arms, I'm guessing there won't be enough left to correctly measure them and/or compare to new ones at the parts store.
None of the venders I'm familiar with list any bushings for a C20, and most of the listings for C10 bushings do not mention whether or not they will fit a C20. The link 65chevyc20 shared for 3/4 ton bushings doesn't go to anything related to bushings, and the description from that vendor (or lack thereof) makes me wonder if that is correct in the first place. |

Bushings are the same for C10's-C20's. Trailing arms are the same, the only difference being beef up plates welded to C20 trailing arms. I'd suggest investing in a shop and assembly manual, they have the info, (part numbers).

Excellent, that's what I wanted to hear!
I do have a factory service manual, '66 supplement, and factory assembly manual, but several threads like this one imply they are different, usually without evidence. I was just looking for confirmation from someone like yourself with first hand knowledge. Thanks! |
