Trucks with LS Engines
For those of you with ls based motors in your trucks, those with your engines set back to the max allowed. I need to know how much space you have from the furthest out accessory to your radiators. If you only have PS and Alt how far is it from the water pump to the radiator?
I want to know so I can setup my turbo either in the middle or if one side or the other only. If you have a turbo, how big is it and what size down pipe are you running. Also are you using a muffler? Pics would be nice.

Set as deep to the firewall that you can My swap is 1" forward, from I 6 inline spot....I would suggest 1 1/2" forward from that I 6 spot (still 2 " rear, from the sb v8 position). Down the bottom of the 2nd page, there are pics, of the longhorn swap(1" forward), on the I 6 stand. You can look at the space up front....or if you need a measure, I can do? What do you need , end of water pump, to radiator? Longhorn

Measurement from the water pump to the radiator, I wont be using clutch fan but electric fans instead since I have them. I possibly would want to put my turbo in the center but if I have the cash at the time I will buy two turbo's.

I have 7" tween the nub on the waterpump, & the rad core...subtract 1 1/4" for the shroud, + the fan depth (dual elect's on mine). As I have stated, you may be better off with the set, another 1/2" forward from my spot? Clearance @ the rear is tight, but the firewall was clearanced for a BB Olds, set tight in the mid 90's. The fans are roughly 3 1/2-4" thick, on the back side of the shroud.....any other measure that you need, just post back. Longhorn

Going with a dead center mount makes the manifold side easy (like if your doing flipped truck manifolds), since you don't have to run a big awkward crossover...BUT it also means that every pipe has to pass through the middle. I don't know if I'm describing it right, but it results in some piping-clutter.
Going to the side usually makes it easier to sneak short pipes out and through the inner fender or core support to feed an intercooler. fwiw, I've also seen some guys trim the rad supports to tuck the radiator in a bit further (at least on the 64-66) which gives you more room on the backside. It takes some of the intercoolers' space, but depending on your setup that more or may not matter much.

I used the ECE engine perches with stock pin type motor mounts and non adjustable plates to mount the mm to the engine block. I can put my large hand between the head and the FW and I have a stock type radiator with the side panels but w/o the shroud, I have two 12" electric fans for cooling. Hope this helps you a bit.

I know that i don't have enough room to place my turbo in the middle because of the electric fans.. So ill have to place it off to one side...

I plan on using a water to air intercooler and I can mount it on either fender with a radiator under the front bumper like this one: http://www.frozenboost.com/product_i...0f34f3632ccb7b with a few fans mounted to it for stop and go driving.
I didn't get much sleep last night because I was trying to figure out the best way to merge two pipes together without the flow suffering and once I build it I will let you guys know. Intercooler I plan to use will be this one: http://www.frozenboost.com/product_i...0f34f3632ccb7b I'm not using a stock radiator but a 2 core cross flow mounted tight to the core support since I cut the stock mounting tabs off and the core width will be the same as the open area of the support which is nearly 26" I think?

Dan you have two different intercoolers in those links, are you planning on using the little boxy one in the second link? I'd think you could tuck that up in the old battery spot if you put the battery in the bed. You'd keep piping uber short that way, which is nice if it works.
As for merging the pipes, which way did you need to merge them? Angle cutting one side of each pipe lets you form a merge pretty simply. Going with a shallow angle and no bend helps, as does merging into an oval pipe, giving you a little bit more volume. You can taper down from the oval piping. I'm assuming your referring to the merge at the Turbo flange? Either way, your limited by the size of the flange as a bottleneck.

Yes the long one, sorry about that the radiator/heat exchanger is 26" wide 7" tall and 2" thick and should fit perfectly where the GMC letters are now.

Gotcha. I was looking at the other one. I see what your going for though. As a thought, if your pressed for room, you may consider pulling the tranny cooler off the rad and mounting it horizontally or at an angle in the unused section behind the bumper between the frame horns. I did this so I could fit a larger fan cooler tranny cooler, and I really like the way it ended up.
It saved me all the room in the core support area (unmodified), and gets tons of good air...and would save you from having the IC,rad, and trans cooler stacked on top of each other. I think that would be frustrating from a heat soak standpoint.
