2 headlights to 4

I found a 4 headlight grill at the wreaking yard yesterday and was wondering how do I wire it to work with a truck that originally came with 2. Both have the original wiring harness.

If all the wiring is orig. now would be a great time to upgrade the system with new heavy gauge wire, sockets and relays.

If you already have the wiring harness with the correct plugs, it is a simple splice, they will share the same ground, so just use a test light, (or a wiring diagram) and split off the hi/lo +12v. But as mentioned above, this is a great time for new wiring, new sockets (most parts stores should have the correct ones) and relays. Also make sure you have an adequate ground. You will likely see increased output from this.

Re: 2 headlights to 4

I agree it's a great time to upgrade the wiring and add relays, but if your current wiring is stock and you want to go from 2 headlights to 4, simply unplug the connector just to the drivers side of the radiator and plug in the new grille harness. Everything from the radiator bulkhead back is the same. The only difference between the 2 and 4 headlight wiring is in the grille/headlight harness itself. Same thing works in reverse, going from 4 headlights to 2.

Re: 2 headlights to 4

I went from 4 to 2 a while back and it was just plug and play...
