1976 Freedom Machine.. looking for information about this one

My Buddy bought this truck or at least what is left of it. He is looking for information about it, we know they made a few of these, but this is the only one we can find with this color scheme. The rest have different decals or even a different body color. This one was a local truck and we have seen it for many years. The previous owner said he bought it new at the local dealership and it came with the roll bar and decals etc...

Can anyone educate us on:
How many of these were made
what colors they came in
How many decal options there were...

anything else

Spirit of 76 was a GM package. They were white with blue two tone in the center. The seat in that truck looks correct as do the emblems on the door panels. The decals do not look right though.

The interior is "Spirit of 76"

The "freedom machine "may have been dealer installed

Re: 1976 Freedom Machine.. looking for information about this one

We found this old ad online from a dealership in Texas. The decals look like what is on my buddy's truck, the ad says made for te southwest. Maybe this was a regional thing, the way the graphics were put on.

Looks like at least 2 of these trucks existed with these graphics, who else has seen these graphics?

Look at the stars in freedom machine in both the ad and on the truck... They match, tells me these were not a one time thing

Just because a dealership sold it does not make it factory. That's a dealer add on thing, like a conversion of sorts if you will.

That's prob one of the more complete trucks that I've seen. A one year only truck made in limited quantities making parts much more scarce. As for the "freedom machine" that sounds like a typical dealer advertising campaign and dealer add on's

Re: 1976 Freedom Machine.. looking for information about this one

I know this is an old post but my dad actually had several sets of these decals. He put a set on his '70 lwb. He was a body man and was always doing something to his trucks. I'm not sure where he got the decal sets, but always swore it was a factory option. I only have one picture of us in front of the truck. I'll try to get it posted.

$4695.00 is the equivalent of a $20,545 dollars now.

I feel I am getting ripped off on new trucks still

Reviving this thread from the dead.. Just seeing if anyone new has any more info on these trucks. My grandpa had one that I very vaguely remember, and can't seem to find any pictures of. Unfortunately it was sold when I was around 5. I remember the "Freedom Machine" decals in that same font. That would be very interesting if they had different decal packages, etc. based on region. This truck would've been bought new in Louisiana. I've seen a handful of Spirit of 76 trucks for sale over the years, but never any with the Freedom Machine decals.

Trying to revive this one again for some more info. Does anyone have a good picture of the "Freedom Machine" decal on the bed of the truck? I just bought one of these trucks recently, and I've been searching for more info for a couple of weeks now. Not much out there.

There is currently one of these on ebay that has a picture of the spid. I didn't see anywhere in mentioning a spirt of 76 package. No freedom edition decal on the bed either
