Clock hole locating tips
Getting ready to drill the hole in the lens for the clock setting shaft, any tips for locating it correctly? I don't want to mis-drill!

No real tips from me. I did it "by eye" on 2 different clusters. It's more an art than science, at least for me. I held the gauge plate in place and marked the lens with a Sharpie. Rechecked a couple times. Contrary to the heated nail advise, I did drill mine but at a very, very low speed and very little pressure. I drilled a pilot hole 1st. Reverse would possibly work also. I got lucky and had only a little chipping at the edge which was covered by the rubber stem grommet from the donor truck. I'm sure the hot nail will also do the trick, but I didn't think of it.

How about making a card template of the gauge and dry fitting it for position? then maybe once the hole is ready to be made, put some tape on the lens to prevent chipping? I thinking this all out loud coz I'm going to be trying the same thing.

If you can find a junk lens, use it for your mock up. You can drill or pierce as many holes in a junk lens as needed to get is right on the money and use that to mark your hole on the lens you are using. You only get one chance to get it right. If you drill, make sure to place tape over the spot you are drilling on both sides of the lens.
