Hydraulic clutch
I'm putting a BBC in my '63, I've read that to keep a standard tranny and use headers you have to use a hydraulic clutch. Is this true and anyone that has a way of doing this please let me know. I've never dealt with installing a hydraulic clutch before.

Re: Hydraulic clutch
When installing a big block and a manual trans, converting to a hydraulic clutch is so much easier than modifying and fabricating new mechanical linkage. I do make a brake booster/hydraulic clutch conversion for the '63-'66 trucks. It is basically the same as the brake booster/hydraulic clutch assembly that I make for the '60-'62's. There is a link to the for sale thread in my signature line \/ \/ \/
I do not currently have a bracket to mount the slave cylinder, but I am working on it as time permits. You could use a factory '84-'91 bellhousing or use the Novak slave cylinder and bracket.

Re: Hydraulic clutch
I've had the Novak slave setup in place for 9 years on my 1960 GMC SBC 4 speed. They have changed the design a bit since then but mine continues to work perfectly. The setup can be seen on page 2 of my build thread.

Re: Hydraulic clutch
Jegs, Summit, Novak & many other vendors all carry internal slave/release bearings for your Muncie.
(http://www.jegs.com/p/RAM-Clutches/R...95647/10002/-1) As Captain Fab described, you need a master cylinder properly fastened to the firewall to actuate the internal slave/internal release bearing. Quality, durable flex lines are also needed. Good luck, please add some pictures as you build. |

Mark I've read your build before. I just forgot about the clutch section partially because I was going to go with a TH400 at that time. Thanks for bringing it to my attention again. I'm going to use the same setup for mine. Hoping I can get the bracket from Capt. Capt I sent you a pm. Hopefully with your bracket and a lil guidance(if needed) it'll go together without any problems. |

Re: Hydraulic clutch
I just did a novak conversion, but have not installed it in the truck yet. Its all mocked up and ready to install. Its a very nice kit and the design has changed a little from Markeb01's version. Theres some pics of it on my build.
