Spindle Problem

I installed a set of CPP drop spindles (bought thru Borthers Truck) on my truck recently and one side (rf) sits higher up on the Ball Joint than the other. It's about 1/2" difference. You can't use the washer on R\F side. Here's the pics of each side. To Me the L/F looks correct with having more threads showing and sitting lower on the spindle. Brothers did warrenty me a new spindle (arrived today) but seems to be the same. I was curious if anyone else has had same problem??

Re: Spindle Problem

Look to me like the left one is the problem. The cotter pin is way above the castle nut. Which spindle did they replace?

Re: Spindle Problem

I agree

I would say that the left spindle, lower hole was reamed too deep.

Re: Spindle Problem

I just installed CPP drop spindles last week and they both fit like the top photo . Dust shield just barely touching the bottom A arm. Is there a difference in your ball joints ?

Re: Spindle Problem

They replaced the R/F. The ball joints are new 73-87 BJ. they are the same. Here's another pic of spindle. I asked if they could compare with known good spindles but I don't know if they did. Here's two other pics. I took these for guy @brothers.. anted to show using my finger difference.. I think one bore was machined wrong.

Re: Spindle Problem

Or is one of your index fingers is bigger than the other LOL . Is it a tapered hole or can you drill out and fix. As expensive as they are they better send you another one. My drop spindles were for the stock 66 ball joints.

Re: Spindle Problem

I agree - the Left side is the concern. The cotter pin should go thru the castellated part of the nut, not that far above it.
I'd send CPP those pics and they should see the problem, too.
