Recomend a good wiring harness for our 61 Apache
Can anyone recomend, or what to avoid to get a good wiring harness. I prefer a direct fit, not a unviversal fit.
Please also let me know if you have had any bad experiences. cant believe what they get for these. Thanks, Glenn

Re: Recomend a good wiring harness for our 61 Apache
M&H Electric Fabricators Inc. and American Autowire both offer excellent reproductions of the factory wiring that have all of the OE type terminals & connectors for a direct plug-in installation.
Both companies offer OE-type harnesses with some common upgrades as well ... like HEI ignition and internally regulated alternators. And American Autowire also has a "Classic Update" harness kit for 60-66 trucks --> http://www.americanautowire.com/shop...66-chevy-truck It's not a universal harness but they do leave some of the wires extra-long so you can do some custom routing. And not all of the wires are pre-terminated so you have a few different options when it comes to instrument clusters, steering columns, and such. Last edited by ray_mcavoy; 02-28-2014 at 03:53 PM. |

American AutoWire... Installed one on a '57 Chevy, another on my '61 Suburban... AWESOME kits.

Re: Recomend a good wiring harness for our 61 Apache
I got the best price on my American Autowire harnesses by calling them, getting exactly the part numbers I needed (they were GREAT to deal with!), then purchasing them from Paradise Road (http://www.paradise-road.com/).
Then, I did the BEST thing I could have done - I upgraded the entire wiring setup using the "New System" from M.A.D. Electrical (http://madelectrical.com/). Works GREAT! |
