Speakers

Has anyone used the kick panel speakers in 64 truck? I may buy the ones with pioneer speakers in them. Can you still use the dimmer switch, and do the install nicely, and look good as well.

Re: Speakers

If I lived in hotter climate, I would not give up the kick vents for speakers. Use the dual cone dual speaker kit for the dash and add a couple behind the seat. They also make a slimline bass box for under the seats.

Re: Speakers

i would have to agree. i did the speakers in the dash and my soundstage is great. i installed one 10in woofer under the passenger seat and that sounds very good as well.

Re: Speakers

I think I can get kick panel speakers that have holes for the kick panel vents. The truck had speakers under the dash. They sounded real bad. I threw them away.

Re: Speakers

Yea I'm wanting to say there are panels available with holes for the vent. If I had AC I wouldn't worry about it. CorvetteJim1968, that turned out nice! Are those the only speakers you have in there? I'm wanting to do something with mine, but can't make up my mind on what or how lol.

I figure my cost for the radio CD player, and two good speakers around $350.00.

I'm sure it sounds awesome though. It doesn't take long for the money to get high with audio equipment.

Re: Speakers

I have the panels pictured in my 66 and they work fine. I also have two more behind the seat.

I am getting ready to mount a set like the ones pictured as well. My problem? How to they mount? There are no screw holes in the panels and they do not just "snap" into place. Does anyone have a picture of these mounted in a '66 C10? Thanks!

Re: Speakers

I'm plannin to do mine on the walmart for under $250 cause $3200 worth still sounds the same to my ears.

2 6" rounds in the doors, two behind the seat just below the winder and a stereo in a boat box unner the dash.

Should be enough to mix well with the tranny noise, tire noise, exhaust noise, dash rattle noise, seat squeek noise, weber two barrel sucking noise, whiney fan belt noise, judderin wind on the windshield noise, pinging loose door noise, chatterin side window noise, .... hells bells....maybe I better get the $3200 system!

Re: Speakers

I pulled my twin-speaker dash assembly out, but it worked pretty well before I did (its for sale )

I also had existing holes in my doors, so I upgraded the 6x9's, added sound deadening, and most importantly, made a lower door card to give the speaker something more to mount to, and adding a little more airspace behind the speaker. Door speaks' arent' ideal, but the fill it gives is great when combined with my other upgrade:

We built our center console housing a 4channel amp, and a pair of 6.5" components. The overall sound in the cab is great, the box gives good clear bass, and you can hear it all over my 6L
