292 flywheel question
I have a 64 292 with a 3 speed on the column
I know the bell housing will work on a v8, what about the flywheel/starter? the v8 is a mid 80'd truck with an auto will I have to source another flywheel, and starter?

Re: 292 flywheel question
I would like to know the same thing for a 230. I was reading the older v8 will work as long as the teeth count match. also something about it has to be the model v8 that had 2 piece rear main seal. because the flywheel went balanced or something.

Re: 292 flywheel question
I don't have personal experience, but from what I have read on this forum and heard from guys, the 292 used 1/2" bolts instead of 7/16" and the 292 has 2 or 3 dowel pins. You may be able to use it on the V8 if the center register fits properly and the 350 crank has a dowel pin the same size as the 292. The starter should work just fine.
If you were closer I would give you a standard flywheel......I have a bunch of them.

Re: 292 flywheel question
The early 292 engines up to about 1967 used the 7/16 bolts like the v-8 & 230-250 engines. After that they went to the 1/2 in. bolts.
