Body bushings help

So i have a 78 c20 2wd 2 door and my body bushings are toast!!! I got a set of Prothane motion control bushings and set out this afternoon to try and re-bush my truck! so my problem is that when i started pulling the bottom of the bushings off I realized that the sleeve that goes in the middle of the bushing has a washer on the top of it. I also realized that in order to get the sleeve out i would have to push the sleeve up, problem is there is a cab in the way.... so who has done this and were is you link and what are your suggestions for my predicament. you guys have never steered me wrong and i could really use the help. Thank you all

Loosen all 6 bolts that hold cab/ front clip on. Remove the three on one side. Then lift that side to get all the old bushings out/ new ones in. Replace bolts, loosely then do the same for the other side. After they are all replaced, tighten them down.

That sounds like it will work, my only worry is tweaking something wile doing this, and the cab and clip are only held on buy 6 bolts? that's crazy i didn't know that. Its got to go up a good inch and a half in order to get the sleeves out.

Lifting 6 inches on one side at a time will really be like nothing you would be surprised

hes right ive done this but you can use a tape measure if you want to make sure its all lined up as it was

put prothane mounts in my crew. you will have to jack it waay up to get them out. dont know if it was necessary, but i was so high, i popped my shifter linkage off, started getting all out of shape looking
you will have to go almost as high to put them back in

Also, i didnt have any problems with anything getting out of shape. I just jacked it slowly while constantly checking if it was high enough to get the old bushings out. something like a 1/4" up and then checked to see if they would come out. If not, i went up another 1/4" until it was just enough to get them out.

Make sure you block the cab while your fingers are under it.

That went really fast I got them all done in about 2hrs! Thanks for all your help guys. Hears a pic if the drivers side rear mount! It drives soooooo much better!

Did it even out the cab and the bed height? My lines aren't matching up well. The right side is lower than the left as you can see in the pics. I crawled under to see my mounts look just like that.. all busted up. Just curious if it lined everything back up?

Mine looked just liked yours on both sides. Hear it is now! They are totally worth it.

Did poly cab bushings on my 77. Is was very uneventfully easy. I noticed a slight improvement in ride, but more drivetrain vibration transmitted (I have poly motor and trans mounts as well).

Be interesting to get some more feedback about the change in ride quality using the polyurethane bushings versus other softer rubber bushing options. I thought the Prothane bushing are much stiffer and therefore the ride comfort factor would get worse? Comfy is nice for a daily driver. --Rob

I put new prothane cab bushings on my 76 C20 and to be honest it doesn't ride any harsher than the old rubber bushings did. I do agree with SkinnyG though you do feel the vibrations from the drivetrain more than you do with the rubber bushings. It's really not that bad though, i am pretty happy with them and my old rubber bushings were in pretty decent shape compared to the one Nheller76 posted a picture of.

Yours look WAY better then mine did! I notice that if I hit a pot hole or speed bump it didn't make me feel like I was going to bang the bottom of my cab on my frame. I've still got cab grommets missing and no sound proofing so noise is a way of life for me, plus my exhaust dumps out under the bed of my truck! If I've got change on the floor it rattles like a tin can!
