TH350 help needed
So a few weeks ago while backing into the garage, the tranny line let loose and proceeded to dump a whole lot of fluid on the new and fairly clean concrete floor.
I repaired the lines, and refilled the system with approx. 4 quarts of tranny fluid. I estimated by the puddle size and figured it would be a good starting point. The stick show an overfull, and as I set out for a drive, now I have a leak on the left (drivers side) of the tranny onto my hot exhaust. I was able to get back home, about 2 miles, and back to the garage, I've still read over the full mark by about 2 inches. I'm puzzled to why I would have a leak on the opposite side as thee tranny lines. Could an too much fluid cause any problems? Is there a vent, or port where in a overfill condition the fluid could come out? Any help is appreciated, as the ole boy is sitting on my garage looking pretty sad, as its back on the 70's here and its been a long winter. Thanks Glenn

Re: TH350 help needed
You've got way too much fluid in it. Two inches over the mark is a lot. It's finding new places to leak (probably shift shaft seal). You're gonna need to get that extra fluid out. After that your problems should go away.

Thanks TXFirefighter. Any ideas on how to get it out? I don't have drain plug on the bottom, I hope I don't have to drop the pan.

Re: TH350 help needed
Take a cooler line loose and stick it in a bucket. Start truck for a few seconds. The trans will pump the fluid out into the bucket. Pretty quickly, so don't let it run long. Now, reconnect cooler line and check fluid. Add as needed.
Remember, check fluid with engine idling and transmission in park.

Re: TH350 help needed
Thanks TXFirefighter, I did just what you said about using the cooler line. Pumped out good. Had approx. 2 quarts too many. Truck runs great no more leaks.
Thanks for the info. Glenn

Re: TH350 help needed
Glenn, I'm glad it worked out. If you're ever looking for a lazy man's way of solving a problem, I'm your guy. I'd rather have a punch in the nose than have to get underneath and try and dump a couple of quarts by loosening the trans pan.
