Installing under-dash A/C no search?
Haven't tried to search in a while, says it has been disabled??
Anyway, I am wanting to put an under dash a/c system in my 70 chevy. It is an auto, 350, shortshaft water pump, headers. I am going to look around local salvage yards for a good cab unit and a condenser. Looking for tips on mounting a compressor on the above config. Should I stick with an A6 (have a couple laying around) or a newer style sanden (gone one of those to). I am I going to be able to find brackets for the short water pump engine or buy aftermarket?

If you go with a Newer Sanden compresor, you can buy the brackets you need. New, I think they run about $130 for the compressor bracket.

Found this inthe Tech-tips part of the main page. Anybody got more info on it. Tried to email the author but it came back unknown.
This One Was Sent In By: Ron Satcher I installed an evaporator from an "81 Citation under the dash of my "69 pickup for my a/c unit. I fabricated a stainless steel mesh cover to replace the plastic one and mounted a rheostat fan switch (adjustable speed) and thermostat switch from a "64 Mercedes onto the dash over the a/c unit. Looks clean, works great..

I just bought this bracket off of ebay
I think this guy makes these..got it for $50 plus shipping. They are made for the short water pump...mounts to the intake and to the water pump. You might e-mail the guy and see if he is gonna auction another if you are interested.

Thats what worries me. Plus shipping will be high.
What I was gonna look into this weekend was a unit from a late 70's Jeep Wagoneer. They used under dash units up until the late 80's from the factory. Friend is parting one out that has AC, will measure it up or just pull it and try it out this weekend. I think jeeps used a big york compressor, great pump, but will probly not use that part of it. Will post back here and let everybody know if it fits. If it works it would be a great souce of AC for these trucks. Andy
