K20 Tires Sizes

I am getting closer to having my 73,74,79 K20 back on the road, and I am thinking more seriously about tires.

My C20 Had 265/75/16's, and I liked how they fit.

or

Should I upsize to 285/75/16's.

Either set will be on 16' PYO's as I already have them, and like them for there light weight.

I know the 265's will fit with now issues, but will the 285's give me issues? If so would it only be at full compression or just in general.

Re: K20 Tires Sizes

The 285's will clear no problem. Had them on my stock 83, and I could turn lock to lock while hitting bumps. They look just right on a stock height K20. Post some pics! When I get home I'll post a pic of my old truck on 285's.

Re: K20 Tires Sizes

I have 285's on 7" wide rims on mine, I have no problems at all.

Here are some pictures of mine.

275/70/16 is an option also. I have used them with good results, but even they look fat on a 7" rim. I would say a 265 is the widest I would on a 7" wheel.

Here's mine before I lifted it. Stock height, 285/75R16 Cooper STT's. I strongly recommend those tires, they treated me great. I got about 50,000 miles out of the set, which is great for a mud terrain. Much cheaper than BFG's as well. They were great for mud and deep snow.

Use the chart on this page as a guide for tires.
