Did someone call an Ambulance ?

Been waiting patiently to get this one home from Scottsbluff Nebraska. 1963 C30 Panel .Just arrived late this afternoon. Runs like a top and has several unique options. Its an Armbruster conversion. Actually has a nice third door on the right side. Its all original and pretty straight and solid. Cant wait to polish this one up !

Re: Did someone call an Ambulence ?

Sweet! Geez, some guys have all the fun! That'd be great for parades or camping or just yelling at your neighbor from four houses away through the
loudspeaker. lol
Oh yeah, knowing your ability to score big, that brake pedal pad is probably worth more than you paid for the whole truck!

That is in very good original condition. Only a couple minor dents and no rust to speak of. What does it have for an engine and trans?

283 4 speed Captain. This is a 31,000 mile truck, owner said it stayed inside most the time. Rear quarters, all doors and floors are rock solid OG paint yet.

Re: Did someone call an Ambulence ?

Few more pictures. 283 4 speed No Spin rear axle, Hazard Flasher,Power Brakes, Washer Bottle, 2 speed wipers and window washers. Armbruster did a pretty nice job of adding the door and on the interior, lots of extra lighting, sliding windows and compartments. Really needs new tires for the 17.5 rims bad.

Not sure other than get it cleaned up, new tires. Would like to take it up to the Iola Swap meet, lots of neat Old Stuff running around during the event.

Yes, thought the headliner was done pretty well and several more lights in the back and small fan for air conditioning.

Yeah, that's interesting that phone Captain ?? Cant figure that one out yet, theres a big box its connected to behind the passenger seat. Might need the local "old ambulance guy" to show me how that works. He has a few old Cadillac Ambulances

Yeah, after I saw that and posted, I've been trying to figure out how that would have worked back then.

Back in the 60's many emergency vehicles had that type of phone installed. In more rural areas especially where radio communication was limited due to terrain. This is where the term "mobile phone" was coined. Those mobile units had a special "mobile operator" that placed calls for user. While the user didnt dial directly so the "rotary numbers" were not needed, frequently they just used a standard phone as the handset while all the work was done by that box behind the seat.

If you ever watch old TV shows, take a look at "Ironside". He frequently uses one in the back of the paddy wagon. Also the movie "Hell Fighters" with John Wayne, they use one in their cars in that movie.

Re: Did someone call an Ambulence ?

this is how I found it. it had some rust issues in the roof. I parted it out, as there ware parts that I wanted for mine. it came equipped with 2 gurney's and their hold down tracks in the floor and an overhead bracket that could support things. had the cupboards down each side and a jump seat in the back,a rear heater which I still have. had rear side doors on both sides. there was also a rear spot light that was mounted over the rear doors which I still have. have quite a few pictures that I have buried away still . also still have a couple of old body bags that came with it.

That is neat! A low mileage, rolling, piece of medical history. I wouldn't change a thing.
