Talking New Engine/Electric Fans Pics

Thanks to LOHRTBT for letting me know about these electric fans that work great and are very cheap for our trucks. Also thanks to Txstruck for helping me find such a great deal on them. I installed them and work flawlessly. Kick on and kick off as needed and freed up some power with getting rid of a flex fan and shroud. Much cleaner looking up front and alot easier to work on the front of the engine bay. Now I need some chrome pulleys and it will be much better off. Below are a couple pics. Specs on the fans are:
Hayden 3690 14" CFM-1325 Amps-9.8 CFM/Amp- 135.2 per fan.

Fans cost about $180 with controller, $20 for chrome radiator cover and a few bucks for misc. stuff like inline fuse, wire connectors, etc. About $210 all together when everything was said and done including hardware to mount the fans to the radiator.

Damn, that looks good.

I love electric fans. One of the best mods to do on our trucks.

Good job Hoss.

I got the radiator cover off of Ebay. Here's two different versions. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2426407538 I got this second one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2426522625 When I ordered my radiator I ordered the shorter one (stupid me) and needed the standard radiator style instead of automatic. The chrome piece came out great with bolts. Straight bolt on.

Nice install. Looks good. I wish they made a chrome bracket for the 81-91 models.

79BIG10, Just out of curiosity, where did you find it easiest to get your "switched" AC power from? Want to keep things as clean as I can.

Autozone, Shucks, Kragens sell the Haydens under the Imperial name. The Hayden part number 3690 interchange with the Imperial part number 226116. I contacted Hayden and thats what they told me. If you buy them through PartsAmerica.com online which is their internet sales site, the 14" Imperials are $74.99 each and after ordering them you can pick them up at nearest Autozone, Shucks, or Kragens which have them in stock. If you come in off the street and buy them, they are more expensive. They are rated at 1250 cfm @ 9.8 amps.

I found 3 new ones on eBay which sold for just under $50 each, but at the last minute decided not to.

I was going to buy them, but I found some others that are rated at 1950 cfm each for similar price at Zigs Street Rods.com which has their store about 4 miles from me.

Elec. fans

The ones Auto Zone sells are Imperial also known as Hayden. The part number is 226114 for $70.00 and you need 2 in the pulling configuration(behind radiator). The adjustable thermostat part number 226204 is $40.00 at Auto Zone and $70 .00 at Advance Auto. Got my application info direct from Hayden.

As just a word of advice when buying any new electric fans. The amps the fans draw should be in the range of 1 amp for every 100 cfm. Aftermarket companys tend to overrate the cfm their fans produce. From everything I have read on this, and believe me, it's been a lot, it's not real possible for fans to have 1900 cfm and draw 10 or 12 amps. It just ain't going to happen. A 1900 cfm fan will need to draw 19 amps or more.

Just FYI.

Mike: Thanks for the insight on the amp draw thing, good thing I got a +140 amp alternator. The ones I were looking at didn't state the amp draws, just the cfm's.

87r10: Wonder why the $30 price difference for the 226204 adj. thermostat between Autozone and Advance?
